Networking can feel a little scary the first time. Honestly, you'll be fine. This is a friendly room, everyone remembers their own first visit, and nobody expects you to be polished. Here's what to expect and a few tips.
What happens in the meeting
Coffee and hellos. Someone will look after you, you won't be left standing on your own.
Each member briefly says who they are and what a good referral looks like for them this week. That's what the Getters Sheet is for: jot down anyone you could help or who could help you.
One member goes deeper on their business. There's a speaker notes section on your sheet.
Members pass real business to each other. This is the bit that shows you how BNI actually works.
Your 45 seconds as a visitor
Your name, your business, and one line on what you do. No pitch needed.
"A great introduction for me would be..." is the most useful sentence in the room.
People remember the last thing you say. "I'm Sam, Sam's Bakery" lands better than trailing off.
45 seconds goes quicker than you think, and this room is on your side.
